Academic Excellence

What does Academic Excellence mean at RPS?

We believe in a holistic approach to education that goes beyond academic excellence. Our aim is to ensure that our pupils develop life skills and emotional intelligence alongside their academic abilities. To achieve this, we encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and independent enquiry to develop creativity and innovation. While we follow the National Curriculum of England, we offer a global perspective and celebrate the UAE's values of tolerance and diversity.

Our approach to academic excellence is centred around creating a well-rounded and independent learner who is equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century. Our approach to teaching is designed to reinforce the school’s three core values: Resilience, Purpose and Success.

For Gifted and Talented (G&T) pupils, we offer access to a range of enrichment resources, including books, technology, and educational games, as well as opportunities to participate in advanced classes and activities, such as gifted and talented clubs, competitions, and projects. We also have regular communication with parents and carers to share progress and discuss ways to support students at home.

How We Teach

Fostering Resilience

At RPS, we prioritize building resilience. Our approach includes positive reinforcement to foster a growth mindset, an encouraging classroom environment that values learning from mistakes, and mindfulness techniques for emotional regulation. We are deeply committed to nurturing resilience for our pupils' success within and beyond the classroom.

Working With Purpose

Our aim is to instil a sense of purpose in our students. We foster goal setting, exploration of interests, and real-world applications of learning. We also provide extracurricular activities and community service opportunities to help pupils find their purpose and develop a sense of global responsibility.

Nurturing Success

Every child has the potential to succeed, and we cultivate an environment that allows students to thrive. Our teaching methods cater to diverse learning preferences and abilities, and we provide regular feedback to track progress and celebrate success. Our differentiated instruction ensures that each child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Promoting Engagement

We strive to inspire our students through a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Our immersive approach involves thematic learning, hands-on activities, and real-world applications. Our unique methods, coupled with meaningful community links, foster a love of learning and drive students to reach their full potential.

Keeping Pupils on Track

A regular and comprehensive reporting schedule

Keeping parents/carers informed is essential for student success. We provide regular progress reports to parents/carers that outline their child's strengths, areas for improvement, and progress towards learning objectives. These reports ensure that parents/carers are aware of their child's academic and personal development throughout the school year. At the end of each academic year, we also provide formal school reports that provide a comprehensive overview of the student's academic progress, social-emotional development, and extracurricular activities.

Open communication between school and home is key

In addition to these reports, we use a range of communication channels to keep parents/carers informed about school news and events. Teachers may also use these channels to share updates on student progress, highlight classroom activities, and offer suggestions for supporting learning at home. We believe that open and transparent communication is key to supporting student success.
