Early Years Foundation Stage at RPS
Building independence and curiosity through play-based learning.
Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Ranches Primary School! The EYFS is a comprehensive, play-based educational framework designed for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. In some other school systems, this stage might be referred to as preschool or kindergarten. At RPS, we aim to provide a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters a love for learning and encourages the holistic development of our pupils, ensuring they build a solid foundation for their future academic journey.

EYFS Educational Approach
Learning on their terms by exploring, experimenting, and discovering.
Our educational approach in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) revolves around a play-based, child-led methodology. This strategy values exploration, experimentation, and self-led discovery as key drivers of learning, fostering creativity, imagination, and critical thinking skills. By cultivating a love of learning in these formative years, we lay the foundation for a lifelong educational journey.
Our classrooms and outdoor spaces are crafted to be inviting, engaging, and tailored to all learning preferences, reflecting our commitment to creating a nurturing environment where each child can flourish. Activities are carefully planned to be both fun and educational, with curriculum-linked events like Julia Donaldson's Day, Science Day, National Day, International Day, and Book Day. By immersing children in varied topics and themes, we empower them to build strong foundational skills and foster the confidence necessary for future success.
