The Key Stage 1 Curriculum

An overriding theme each term to anchor learning in the real world

In Key Stage 1 at RPS, our curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, Phonics, Theme, SEAL, Art, Computing, French, Arabic, PE, Swimming, and Islamic. Year 1 topics include Under the Sea, Superheroes, and Space, while Year 2 covers Explorers, Animals, and Villains.

Quality First Teaching

We prioritise quality first teaching, planning lessons according to our children's needs and interests. Our teaching methods incorporate Thinking Hats and the RPS Character Compass to develop various thinking skills and promote positive character attributes. Digital technology is primarily used in Computing lessons, but children also have opportunities to use video and apps to enhance their learning across subjects.
